Eartha Kitt, a former Katherine Dunham Company troupe member, is remembered for her distinctive singing style. Her most famous song is "C'est si bon." Kitt was born into a dysfunctional family, not knowing who her birth parents were and her guardian leaving her with a friend to go live with a man who did not accept Eartha.
"My Discarded Men" creates another take on Delecroix's Greece on the Ruins of Missolonghi. Instead of the woman's sadness, while listening to Eartha Kitt she becomes more sinister. It turns the victim of another crime into her victim.
